European Career Fair at MIT, February 2019

Interested in exploring opportunities right next door? Visit the 23rd European Career Fair this Spring semester:

The MIT European Career Fair (ECF) in Boston/Cambridge is an annual recruiting event, organized by members of the European Club at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Our mission is to connect top-tier US students and young professionals with European companies, universities and non-profit organizations and to inform about career opportunities in Europe.
This career fair is the largest of its kind in the United States with up to 100 attending companies and 3000-5000 registered candidates. Our candidates are students, working professionals and recent alumni of Ivy League, and renowned European and American universities. Our company participants are diverse, ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit organizations in the research/ technology as well as business and consulting sector.

Scholarships available from the University of Mannheim

The University of Mannheim is pleased to inform you that their BUSINESS SCHOOL has nominated UConn’s School of Business students for the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship Program for the academic year 2018/2019.

Each student UConn’s School of Business will be sending to the University of Mannheim on exchange during the academic year 2018/19 is a potential beneficiary. The objective of the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship Program is to promote international exchange of highly qualified students.

The deadlines for applications are March 31st, 2018, for a study period in the fall semester 2018 and October 15th, 2018, for a study period in the spring semester 2019.

RGIT, the German American Chambers of Commerce and the Germany Trade and Invest organizations regularly publish basic data on the two markets’ high-level involvement. Check out the most recent numbers on this fact sheet.

And what are the numbers for Connecticut?

  • Germany is in third place, following the UK and the Netherlands with employment by Foreign-Owned Affiliates: 12,600
  • Imports to Connecticut from Germany: $1,936 million
  • Exports to Germany from Connecticut: $1,653 million
  • Germany is in 5th place with imports to Connecticut (machinery, transportation equipment, chemicals)
  • Germany is in 2nd place with exports from Connecticut (transportation equipment, machinery, metal products, computer products)
